Wow! Were we busy this Spring or what? In late April, ASAP launched a bi-monthly Opioid Alternatives Lunch and Learn Series focused on providing information about a specific opioid alternative treatment from a qualified professional. On April 23rd, we had our first Lunch and Learn on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Additional sessions will be offered throughout the year. ASAP also partnered with local businesses and police to collect over 550 pounds of unused & expired medication in April! Over 6 tons of medication has been collected in Anderson County since the drug take back program was started. Last year, ASAP partnered with Count It! Lock It! Drop It! to further our awareness campaign around drug misuse prevention, and we encourage you to participate too. Count your medication, lock it up, and dispose of unwanted meds at one of our permanent drop boxes at any of the police departments in Anderson County.
Since October 2018, over 2,700 elementary, middle, and high school students have been empowered to make healthy decisions through the GenerationRx prevention curriculum. ASAP partnered with Methodist Medical Center Pharmacy Department, South College School of Pharmacy’s Dr. Holly Lowe and pharmacy students in the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), and School Resource Officer Kim Lay to make this program a huge success in our community.
