<\/p>\nIn the course of our work, ASAP\u2019s staff members belong to a variety of community groups and organizations that are doing good work throughout Anderson County. In order to address some of the stubborn issues facing our communities, it is often necessary for two or more separate outfits to join forces, so to speak. One such partner group is the Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Chartered in 1946, Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge is comprised of a dedicated, diverse group of individuals with a range of backgrounds and interests, all of whom are equally devoted to serving the children and youth of Anderson County, as well as improving the lives of children across the globe. Kiwanis International takes the fight to large-scale scourges such as childhood disease and poverty with unique and scientifically innovative service projects and broad fundraising initiatives.<\/p>\n
Closer to home, Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge, or KCOR, has supported Oak Ridge\u2019s the Holiday Bureau, and volunteers as a club, along with students from affiliate organization ORHS Key Club, each December, helping to organize and sort toys and games destined for spots under any Christmas Tree that has an empty space. That\u2019s not all, though. KCOR looks for and rejoices in other opportunities to help out during the Season of Giving. This December, Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge was thrilled to be able to provide four hundred dollars in the form of a micro-grant to Girls Inc. of the TN Valley for a new bench for parents and grandparents to sit when waiting for their girls.<\/p>\n
