ASAP is pleased to announce the 2017 Anderson County Ally of the Year nominees. \u00a0Candidates for the award were nominated by community members for their passion for creating a healthy and productive Anderson County and are united by one goal: to use their leadership, influence and communication skills to raise funds to help prevent and reduce substance misuse in Anderson County.\u00a0 Each dollar raised by the candidates will count as one vote.\u00a0 The person with the most votes will be named ASAP\u2019s Anderson County Ally of the Year and be recognized at a luncheon on February 3rd.<\/p>\n

ASAP ha logrado reducciones significativas en el n\u00famero de estudiantes del Condado de Anderson que han consumido alcohol, tabaco o marihuana Sin embargo, ASAP depende de la generosidad de individuos, corporaciones y fundaciones para continuar con estos esfuerzos. Dr.\u00a0Jim Axmacher<\/a><\/p>\n

Dr. Jim Axmacher has his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Mercer University in Atlanta. \u00a0James has been a registered pharmacist and practiced since 1996 in Tennessee. He majored in geriatric pharmacology and has specialized in Medicare evaluations for the last several years. He is a trained compounding pharmacist with certification from PCCA in Houston, TX. \u00a0Maximizing the patient pharmacy experience with their insurance carriers has been James’ passion as a pharmacist.\u00a0 Jim was\u00a0 born and raised in East Tennessee.\u00a0 He enjoys\u00a0his family life as well as his professional life, with support from his lovely wife Danna,\u00a0 and two wonderful daughters.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bruce Borchers<\/a><\/p>\n

Dr. Bruce Borchers started his education career as an elementary physical education teacher in the Sioux City, Iowa, Community School District. He also has worked as an interim assistant principal and guidance counselor in Iowa City, Iowa; as assistant principal and principal in Mankato, Minn.; and as associate superintendent of secondary schools for the Anoka-Hennepin, Minn., School District. Prior to joining the Oak Ridge Schools, Dr. Borchers was the Superintendent of the Rockwood School District (MO) in 2010. \u00a0Dr. Borchers earned a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, master’s degrees from Wayne State College and the University of South Dakota, and a bachelor’s degree from Morningside College. \u00a0Borchers said he will focus on collaboration. “In the end, student learning depends first, last and always on the quality of teachers, administrators, and support staff in our schools.<\/p>\n

Allen Handley<\/a><\/p>\n

Allen Handley is the publisher of The Courier News in Clinton. He is a member of Clinton Rotary Club, Clinton Civitan, Anderson County Chamber of and Rocky Top Chamber. Allen has been involved with ASAP since 2015. He is married and has an 18-year old son, 16-year old daughter, and two dogs. \u00a0Allen and his family attend Memorial Methodist Church. He enjoys golf, hiking and camping, running, cycling, and fishing.<\/p>\n

Chief Kenny Morgan<\/a><\/p>\n

Kenneth Morgan started his law enforcement career at Oliver Springs in 1989 \u00a0where he worked as Patrolman, Sgt and Captain before leaving in 1996. He \u00a0worked for Anderson County Sheriff Officer and Morgan County Sheriff Office before returning to Oliver Spring Police Department in 1999.\u00a0 He worked as Patrolman, Sgt and Captain before being promoted to the rank of Chief in 2002. Kenneth also serves on the Anderson County 911 Board and several committees for the Tennessee Association of Chief of Police. He has been involved with ASAP for several years.<\/p>\n

Dr. Tim Parrott<\/a><\/p>\n

Dr. Tim Parrott is the Director of Schools for Anderson County. Tim was born and raised in Anderson County. He has been married to Rachel for 34 years and they live in the Bethel community. They are active members of Antioch Church in Clinton. For the past twenty-four years, he has dedicated himself to the success of students as a teacher\/administrator in ACS and as a volunteer within our community, supplying backpacks, school supplies and clothes to those in need.<\/p>\n
